German financial authorities don’t allow „simpler“ verification options that check validity of ID documents only per photo, for example. But you can ask the Tomorrow support for a „Postident“ form which allows you to verify your identity at a Deutsche Post branch in person.
I am aware of the strict regulations on the opening of current accounts in Germany. But other German banks are able to identify their customers through photos of ID documents (I am talking about a specific German bank whose name consists of 1 letter and 2 numbers).
As far as I know Bafin was investigation N26 for this. They consider Photo ID not secure enough for new accounts. N26 can use Photo ID in other European markets, but not in Germany. I am not aware of any changes of the legal situation since then.
Diese Version ist mit einem Update (2.22.1) live gegangen. Gefixt wurde noch mal ein Crash, der auf dem Startbildschirm, wenn schon eine Session aktiv war.
Es gibt hier noch mal ein Update (2.22.2.). Das fixed, dass während des Sign-Ups im Address-Feld die 2. Zeile nicht mehr verpflichtend ausgefüllt werden musste.
